The first Museum of the Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin was founded in 1869 with the blessing of the Catholicos of All Armenians Gevorg IV; it is the first official museum of the Republic of Armenia. The museum collection of Holy Echmiadzin consists of around 5,000 exhibits. The museum collection includes paintings, sculptures, carpets, and portraits by Armenian and foreign artists, as well as archaeological objects and more.

Among its notable exhibits are the Holy Lance (Spear), relics belonging to Apostles of Jesus and John the Baptist, and a fragment of Noah\'s Ark.
